Answer first
Juz Amma contains 37 surahs (surahs 78–114), used daily in Salah. Most memorizers can finish it in 4–9 months at 15–20 minutes per day with disciplined review.
Why start with Juz Amma
- Short surahs build confidence quickly.
- Immediate utility in daily prayer.
- Most surahs have strong rhythmic structure, aiding memorization.
Suggested order
- Short surahs first (Al-Fatiha, An-Nas through Al-Fil).
- Medium surahs (Al-Humazah to Al-A’la).
- Longer surahs last (Al-Mursalat, An-Naba’a).
Pacing
| Stage | Target | Daily minutes |
|---|---|---|
| First 20 short surahs | 6 weeks | 15 |
| Medium surahs | 8 weeks | 20 |
| Al-Mursalat + An-Naba’a | 4 weeks | 25 |
| Total Juz + review consolidation | 6 months | 20 avg |
Review rhythm
- New surah today → review tomorrow, day 3, day 7, day 14, day 30.
- Full Juz review every Friday.
Common challenges
- Mutashabihat between Al-Mutaffifin and Al-Infitar.
- Similar phrasing in Al-Inshiqaq, Al-Mursalat, and An-Naba.
- Longer ayat in An-Naba’ can feel like a wall after the short ones.
